The American label specialising in outdoor clothing has inaugurated its first single-brand shop in the Netherlands, at the emblematic Singel 465-467 location in Amsterdam. This canal-side space used to be a temple to clubbing. In the 90s, it was home to the RoXY club, famous in the Dutch city for its techno and house nights. Times have changed, and it's now a space for sports and outdoor enthusiasts.

As well as offering a wide selection of products for outdoor sports - including snow sports, climbing and trail running - the shop is also designed as a space dedicated to local activists and sporting communities, and will periodically host events such as repair workshops, screenings and public lectures.

All of our shops around the world are designed as gifts to the communities in which they operate, and this shop will be a love letter to Amsterdam and the city's thriving outdoor sports and environmental culture," says Nina Hajikhanian, Patagonia's Managing Director for Europe since last year, in a statement. Running our EMEA business for the past ten years from our Amsterdam flagship, we have immersed ourselves in the activism, innovation and creativity for which the city is renowned through initiatives such as our partnerships with United Repair Centre and Fashion for Good, and our close links with environmental NGOs and outdoor communities. Our new shop builds on this work and gives us the opportunity to become a more active force for positive change here."

This new location is the twelfth European shop for the brand founded in 1973 by Yvon Chouinard. The brand does not disclose its sales figures, which are said to be in excess of a billion dollars, but since 2025 it has claimed that any profits not reinvested in the company will be paid back in the form of dividends to protect the planet.
