Nature: cells use chromosome endings to protect against cancerMarch 18,电报盗号系统云服务器破解技术 2025  20:21

Scientists from the Children's Research Institute (Australia) have found that cells can protect themselves from cancer with the help of telomeres - protective “caps” at the ends of chromosomes. The results of the study are published in the journal Nature Communications.

Telomeres are the end sections of chromosomes that protect DNA during cell division. As we age, telomere length decreases, causing cells to stop dividing. This change serves as an important marker of the onset of biological aging.

Together with colleagues from Kyoto University, Australian scientists investigated the role of telomeres in the fight against cancer. As it turned out, telomeres are much more active than previously thought. They can react acutely to stress and “open up”, initiating cellular reactions similar to aging to prevent cancer.

This defense mechanism halts the cell cycle, which prevents further division and development of existing tumor cells. According to scientists, in the future, this discovery may contribute to the development of new strategies for the prevention and treatment of cancer.
