JD Sports has more than doubled its footprint at Hammerson’s Bullring & Grand Central, after officially opening an upsized store at the key Birmingham shopping destination.

The property giant said the sports retailer’s new 27,500 sq ft store “demonstrates the appeal of Bullring and is reflective of Hammerson’s wider strategy to enliven its assets with high-profile brands, concepts and market firsts which excite and engage audiences”.
It’s the biggest UK opening for JD and features a full offer from the major brands it carries. As well as a big focus on star category shoes with an “extensive selection”, there are of course plenty of accessories, and it also includes dedicated clothing sections for big names like Adidas, Nike, Under Armour, The North Face, and Berghaus.
The opening comes after a strong, 2025 for Bullring & Grand Central, following the signings of Nike Rise, Bershka, Pull&Bear, and Watches of Switzerland, alongside a recently opened food-led M&S store.
These brands complement new entertainment and leisure concepts from Sandbox VR and boutique bowling brand Lane7. They underpin the strategy to diversify Bullring’s brand mix and bring in new uses as well as boosting footfall for the wider shopping offer.
