There’s been another big opening on London’s Oxford Street designed to confound the doom-mongers with premium footwear retailer Kurt Geiger having opened a flagship store at number 272-274.

In a prime spot on the corner adjacent to John Lewis, the new store covers 2,916 sq ft with the vision of brand chief creative officer Rebecca Farrar-Hockley put into action by architect Stefano Ripoli.
It makes the most of the rainbow colours for which the label is known (and that it has applied to its products on sandals, slides, trainers, heeled pumps, bags and other accessories).
The rainbow-toned glass is like an update on traditional stained glass and blends well with the store’s millefiori-style floral wall, its antique brass, turquoise or floral upholstery and contrasting concrete walls, pillars and ceiling (that were already a feature of the space when Kurt Geiger took it over).
Offering the label’s full women’s, men’s and accessories line-up, the company said it wanted the store to really convey the overall brand story.
Kurt Geiger is on a roll at present and only this summer said it would continue its international expansion having secured a new funding package. Owned by private equity firm Cinven, it operates over 70 standalone stores as well as 100+ concessions.
The 60-year-old company has added to its presence in Europe and the US and CEO Neil Clifford has said it wants its international business to grow to be as big as its UK ops.
The company saw turnover rising 22% to over £234 million in the year to the end of January and net profit of £7.3 million.
