Budget chain The Original Factory Shop (TOFS) said it will “guarantee” interviews to retail staff from fashion retailer New Look and general merchandise retailer Wilko who are at risk of redundancy or have been made redundant in recent weeks.

The multichannel retailer is also offering interviews to staff of the failed M&Co fashion business.
TOFS currently has more than 80 vacancies including roles for sales, supervisors and management roles across its estate of 185 stores, where it sells household brands from the clothing, homewares, FMCG and beauty categories.
“Retail staff are being encouraged to get in touch through its recruitment website as The Original Factory Shop looks to hire experienced staff”, it said.
Spokesman Charlie Cuthbert added: “This pledge will hopefully mean more people remain employed while at the same time bringing their retail expertise and fantastic transferable skills to The Original Factory Shop.
New Look is making job cuts with around 500 posts at its Staffordshire distribution centre at risk. Reports quoted the retailer saying the move comes as it’s rebalancing its physical store estate and adapting to a rise in online sales.
All 170 M&Co UK stores are to close this spring following the brand’s sale to AK Retail, with the loss of almost 2,000 jobs.
Meanwhile, troubled Wilko, which has a strong beauty retail presence, has already said 95 jobs are under threat after the firm decided to outsource its customer service operations.
