Fledgling retail area Borough Yards has signed four new independent retailers to join its “culinary and cultural neighbourhood” in Southwark, near London Bridge and the popular Borough Market.

Specifically, the new brands are all located on the soon-to-open (11 April) Stonecutters Lane, which the operator and developer MARK said aims to be “a launch pad” for emerging brands as part of the “final stage in the Borough Yards masterplan”.
The new brands, which have a shared focus on “sustainability, social impact and high-quality design”, include ethical slow fashion brand and social enterprise business Handmade Stories, vegan/sustainable skincare brand Sknfed, handmade jewellery designer Linnet Jewellery, and affordable eyewear brand Pop Specs.
The developer is also working with Lone Design Club to organise pop-ups and event programming at the Yards with its first event coinciding with the new street’s opening.
It said these latest brands “will complement the growing retail offer at Borough Yards", which caters to the large number of workers and residents on the doorstep, "as well as the 25 million visitors to the area each year”.
Lily Lin, Managing Director at MARK, added: “Stonecutters Lane…will add another dimension to the existing mix of leisure, culture and shopping” and will [bring] significant value in being among the area’s creative week-round community and having a brand presence in such a high-footfall, high-spend area.”
