Bags specialist Cambridge Satchel has launched its refreshed branding as it unveils a new store in the heart of London’s Covent Garden.

It now has what it says is an “updated, stronger and more modern appearance”. This includes a new colour palette based around “an unusual hot orange”, as well as a brand new logo and monogram that “incorporate both the daring spirit and the premium nature of the brand, while expressing the ‘made in England’ aspect that has underpinned it for so long”.
And there’s a new tagline too, ‘The Cutting Edge of British Tradition’, that “encapsulates its mission to honour craftsmanship and age-old tradition while keeping the brand anchored in the present, revitalising timeless designs with the eccentric, bold and daring spirit that runs through British culture”.
It all comes just over a year after the brand was sold to French textiles giant Chargeurs and founder Julie Deane exited the business.
Calling the new Covent Garden location a “jewel box of a store”, the company said it was inspired by the brand’s redesign that’s the work of French design studio, Malherbe. It’s particularly important because it’s the label’s first new store since the Chargeurs takeover.

It’s located within Covent Garden’s The Market Building and combines the contemporary rebrand and graphic identity with custom joinery, a bold colour scheme and the refreshed logo prominently displayed throughout the store.
The store is a “cosy and compact space” that houses both the classics and fashion items from the label and also includes its popular embossing personalisation service.
The company added that the store will also be “an unparalleled London showroom for all new products and upcoming collaborations, surrounded by modern light boxes that feature campaign imagery and contrast with the historic legacy of Covent Garden”.
CEO Carine de Koenigswarter said: “Returning to our London home of Covent Garden, the store encapsulates the brand’s future direction while retaining the same trusted and loved products.”
