Price awareness will again be a major feature of the retail beauty sector this year and Superdrug is ramping up its efforts to strike first in the New Year, announcing permanent reductions of up to 50% from today (3 January).

The high street retailer said the move is part of its “ongoing commitment to supporting shoppers through the cost-of- living crisis”.

Those price reductions will be seen across over 150 items. It had previously frozen the prices of over 5,000 favourite items across its stores and online for limited periods in recent years.

An example of products that feature in the price reduction include: Me+ Zinc Cleanser – (from £8.99 to £4.99); Superdrug Moisturising Gloves (from £5 to £3); Me+ Collagen Body Gel Cream 250ml (from £7.99 to £4.99); and Superdrug Tea Tree Cleanser Toner 200ml (from £4.49 to £3.49).

Retailers were keen to be seen absorbing price increases last year as consumers shopped around due to the cost of living crisis. And even though inflation is easing, stores are clearly aware that a long period of rising inflation has left shoppers extremely price conscious.

Jamie Archer, Own Brand Director at Superdrug, said: “We know that recent years have seen prices rocket due to the rising cost of living, so are happy to be able to reduce prices to help shoppers.

“We’re committed to supporting our customers in every way we can. Our price reduction has been curated across a range of everyday products, from washing and bathing accessories to make-up and baby toiletries, in an effort to make everyday shopping more affordable for all.”
