The international competition covers all countries and industries, and chooses its winners based on their companies’ financial feasibility, creativity and social impact. Each year it awards six prizes, one for each of the following regions: Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East-North Africa, North America and Sub-Saharan Africa.

In order to qualify for the competition, each project by a woman entrepreneur must involve a for-profit, innovative company, a start-up that has been in business for 2-3 years, featuring a woman as leader.

The finalists will receive coaching by experienced professionals to move to the next round. They will then be invited to spend a week in France, presenting their project to an international jury and taking part in a workshop on entrepreneurship. The six winners will be awarded consultancy services for a year and financing worth $20,000, as well as enjoying media exposure and networking opportunities.

The deadline for applications is 31st August 2025.

The programme was launched with the objective of contributing to the global economy by finding daring women entrepreneurs the world over. "Cartier remains faithful to its tradition of supporting excellence and promoting creativity, and wishes to offer these brilliant, engaged women the opportunity to create, grow and transform the world they live in," said Cyrille Vigneron, President and CEO of Cartier International.

In 10 years, the 'Cartier Women’s Initiative Award' has received over 1,500 submissions from more than 100 countries, covering a wide range of industries (the environment, healthcare, education etc.). Of the companies that applied, 80% are still operational, leading to the creation of more than 5,000 jobs, 12.4% of them in the environment sector.
