Gen Z-ers “are rewriting the style playbook for fashion choices”. That’s according to fashion retailer New Look’s latest data analysis, “uncovering the most popular fashion trends and styles, Gen-Z [is] inspiring”.
So what’s trending? Top choices include low-rise jeans, cargo trousers, crop tops, bucket hats and chunky trainers, meaning Gen Z's style “seamlessly blends the nostalgia of the early 2000s with a modern twist… [adding] a sprinkle of nostalgia and a dash of innovation”.
By looking at Google search data, the retailer uncovered the top 10 Gen-Z fashion trends.
In terms of monthly searches, the top five are bucket hats ranked first (54,000 searches) “complementing both streetwear and casualwear making it an easy go-to and a popular accessory”.
It’s followed by cargo trousers (48,000 searches) as “practical pockets and relaxed fit… cater to anyone with a stylish yet functional” outlook.
Meanwhile also on the list are corset tops (47,000), cargo skirts (28,000), and mini skirts (19,000) “embracing retro fashion trends, [that] have a nostalgic appeal from the 1990s and early 2000s”.
Completing the top-10 listing are baseball caps, baggy jeans, slip dresses, low-rise jeans and chunky trainers.
