Not only is London neighbourhood Knightsbridge forecast to see bumper festive season footfall but it will surpass that seen pre-pandemic for the first time since the global health crisis devastated retail visitor traffic.

That’s according to the Knightsbridge Partnership, the business improvement body that represents firms in the area and that also expects total spend to jump this season.
Knightsbridge is known for its luxury stores, as well as flagships for major chains and its two key department stores, Harrods and Harvey Nichols.
The Knightsbridge Partnership said footfall from January to October rose an average of 27.7% each month compared to the same months in 2025, although the comparisons were fairly easy given that 2025 still saw a hangover from the pandemic.
The body said November and December footfall should rise by a more muted — but still welcome — 2.8% and 3.3%, respectively, year on year. It should also be 20% and 55% higher, respectively, against the last two months of 2025.
That said, transaction values in the first 10 months of the year fell 7.4% against 2025’s figures (although rose more than 20% compared to 2025). That’s interesting, given how inflation has been running riot. So, if the impact of inflation was taken into account, the fall against last year could have been even greater and perhaps shows that even in luxury districts, higher prices are taking their toll.
But analysis compiled by Diane Wehrle, founder of Rendle Intelligence and Insights, and based on MRI OnLocation and Beauclair data, suggests that the footfall increases could translate into big double-digit transaction value rises. She said the district is “in a very positive trading position for this Christmas”.
Steven Medway, CEO of the Knightsbridge Partnership, added: “We have seen the return to London of high spending international shoppers this year, undoubtedly supported by a weaker pound than in pre-pandemic years, and this has enabled retail and hospitality to bounce back.”
However, he also reiterated the often-heard call for the reintroduction of tax-free shopping to really set the seal on the neighbourhood’s appeal to tourists.
