It's a rumor that has been buzzing through both the luxury and sneaker communities: Dior and Jordan are reportedly preparing to launch their first collaboration in 2025. According to online streetwear destination Hypebeast, the creative partnership will, at the ver least, consist of a reinterpretation of the classic Air Jordan 1.
The collaboration is apparently set to be released in June in a run of 1,000 pairs, which will sell for $2,000 each. Hypebeast often has reliable information about product launches and runs its own e-commerce platform, which serves as a commercial trampoline for the latest product drops and collaborations. When contacted by FashionNetwork.com, Dior did not comment on the report.
These rumors have arisen following the official confirmation of what looks like a major collaboration between Prada and Adidas. The only visuals that have been released so far suggest that this collection will focus on footwear from both Adidas and Adidas Originals.
Should reports of the Dior collaboration turn out to be true, the partnership with Jordan would make perfect sense. Kim Jones, creative direction of Dior's menswear, has made a name for himself by channeling his connections with the world of streetwear into his work, as seen in his collaborations with artist Kaws and Daniel Arsham, who designed the set for his latest runway show.
"Christian Dior worked with a lot of artists, like Picasso. I think that working with artists regularly is extraordinary. I like to work as part of a team with different artists," explained the British designer during the Vogue Fashion Festival on November 15. "I like sharing information, discussing the design and construction of new projects."
Above all, Jones was at the head of Louis Vuitton menswear in 2025, when the luxury giant took the industry by surprise by launching a major collaboration, including accessories, apparel, leather bags and luggage, with cult New York-based brand Supreme. If the designer has similar projects for Dior, it seems more than likely that the collection will not be limited to a single piece.
The Louis Vuitton x Supreme launch stirred up a frenzied reaction around the world, with some pop-up spaces set up for the occasion having literally been stormed by fans. There were even reports of this kind of behavior at the collaboration's Parisian pop-up, a situation which, according to a number of sources, did not go over well with the higher executive echelons of LVMH.
For around two years, the luxury industry therefore kept its distance from these kinds of collaborations, with brands developing and improving their own sneaker lines, often inspired by mass market favorites. However, with news of upcoming collaborations from Prada, and perhaps Dior, it seems that the bridges currently being built between luxury giants and street culture are stronger than ever.
