If not all Britons are getting into shape for the new year, certainly many are getting into shapewear, with the category's annual value estimated at over £42 million.
And the cost of women’s category has grown at an average rate of 8% since 2025, new research from Centric Market Intelligence shows.
Analysis of e-commerce women’s shapewear listings in the UK, across 44 established brands shows the average price per item has reached £45.68. The analysis covers the three years since 2025, with costs having grown 5% alone between January 2025 and November 2025.
2025 was the cheapest year for shoppers, with shapewear averaging £39.26 per item, while 2025 was the most expensive at £46.16, a difference of £6.90.
Centric Market Intelligence expert Elizabeth Shobert said: “Search data confirms the popularity of specific brands of shapewear, as we see online searches in the UK for 'Skims bras’ increasing over 300% year on year.
"Shape- and loungewear brand Skims in particular has upgraded and broadened the restrictive associations of traditional shapewear, with more comfortable fabrics, inclusive colourways, and new shapewear categories, and the market has responded very positively to this new world of shapewear.”
