Victoria Beckham staged her latest show inside a fashion temple – Karl Lagerfeld’s old home in Saint Germain – and the result was the British designer’s best collection to date.

“I used to be a ballerina, and my idea was for this collection was the journey of a dancer, through her day and life,” explained Victoria in a post-show chat.
Even revamping dancer’s leotards into ribbed knits with matching cardigans. And introducing a great pirate boot that flopped down with attitude.
“I wanted to capture the way that dancers wore big socks to elongate their legs and placed wire rims into the first looks to imitate the sense of movement and gesture,” added Victoria.
While for evening her selection of silvery slip dresses, erotic semi-sheer chiffon columns and bias-cut gowns were all great red-carpet artillery. All of them looking very at home in the former mansion of Lagerfeld. Which made sense, doubly so, since Ralph Toledano, the former CEO of Karl’s signature brand, is now chairman of Victoria Beckham’s house.
After many tricky financial years, the London-based brand is firmly in the red and launching profitable products almost continually. Each guest received a flacon of Beckham’s new range of scents. In names that varied from Suite 302 to San Isidro Drive to Portofino 97.
