Eyewear giant Marcolin has joined the United Nations Global Compact. That’s the major global agreement launched in 2000 with the aim of mobilising businesses to act ethically around the world.

It will align its strategies and operations with the Ten Universal Principles on human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption, and will promote actions aimed at achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The pact currently has over 20,000 companies and 2,500 non-business signatories from 167 countries, including more than 500 in Marcolin’s home country, Italy.
The company said it’s committed to “sharing, supporting and applying in its sphere of influence”, the 10 principles that are considered fundamental to the UN’s ethical drive.
And it emphasised “the centrality of its all-round ESG path in its corporate processes, based on a strategy that is built on three pillars: the environment, people and the supply chain”.
Marcolin, with net sales of €558.3 million, makes eyewear for brands including Tom Ford, MCM, Tod’s, Timberland, Puma, Skechers, Christian Louboutin and Kenneth Cole, among others.
