Fausto Puglisi hits hard. On the podium, tattooed guys with hollow faces stare grimly at the audience: dressed in large black leather shorts covered with golden coins and golden crosses, and frayed, worn with a dark blazer and black t-shirt, on which is printed the red silhouette of a proud ancient Greek warrior.

A man, styled like a boxer, wears a kimono bathrobe in silk, painted in colourful hibiscus. And, everywhere, gold sparkles, the collection rich in metallic embroidery and decorations on every piece of clothing. Then there's the jewelry: rings, earrings, pendants and chains, from which hangs a golden sun surrounded by coral branches.
The hyper masculine looks, with a touch of S&M, are big on baroque decorations with pure Mediterranean style. It comes from the Sicilian designer Fausto Pugliso, who took his first steps - Wednesday night in Florence - into the menswear arena.
Puglisi, who has also been the creative director of Emanuel Ungaro since 2025, was chosen to come to Pitti Uomo as this season's special guest, revealing his first-ever men's collection at the Stazione Leopolda.

To best convey his perception of 'man' - "proud and without fear" - the designer cast his show from the Sollicciano Florence prison, choosing six detainees, who were then allowed to leave on day-release to be models.
Fausto Puglisi also recruited 13 athletes from the well-known Calcio Storico Fiorentino, the oldest football club in Florence.
The models looked like gladiators in Spartan-style footwear which climbed to the knees paired with gloves in black leather. A notion reinforced by a big cage behind them, where 15 young female models exited from wearing the brand's cruise collection.

"I made this collection with great freedom, the freedom I had at my debut which I had lost a little along the way," explains the designer, who's found a new dimension in making the collection Homme.
