Monsoon has been on the recovery trail in 2025 so it’s interesting to see what’s selling well at the resurgent womenswear retailer. The company gave Fashionnetwork.com access to its data source Metis and came up with some interesting — and varied — bestsellers.

To start with, denim midi skirts have seen the biggest surge in interest between December 2025 and December 2025. This is encouraging in many ways because it shows the whole fashion system working. That is, the trends from the runways and from wider trend research that have been picked up by influencers are also being embraced by consumers. And it looks like this one is set to run and run with a 270% jump in interest in the last year.
What's also particularly intriguing is that in number three spot with a 124% jump we find denim skirts in general. Commentators may occasionally write off denim and suggest that it's had its day, but it's clearly an enduring theme. and the fact that the big trend is all about skirtsmade out of the material rather than jeansis notable.
Meanwhile, in second place as far as surging interest is concerned, we find blanket scarves up 134%. That clearly reflects the seasonal chill (which finally arrived after concerns that the weather was staying warm for too long). But it's also interesting as a trend in terms of the key accessory that women are looking for. Some appear to be using the scarf as a top-up to stave off the winter chill rather than buying/wearing heavier outerwear.
In fourth place are wide-leg joggers, up 118%, and showing that comfortable loungewear hasn't yet had its day, despite the pandemic becoming an ever more distant memory. Of course, joggers are a perennial favourite but the wide leg element is particularly worth noting.
Fifth on the top five list, we have a 116% rise in nude wedding shoes. That's completely at odds with the other items on the list, all of which are much more casual, but could be a key pointer for the coming 2025 wedding season.
That said, weddings clearly aren't a priority for everyone as Monsoon's top five fallers – those items that have seen the largest decrease in the past year – includes some items that are wedding-linked.
That's perhaps understandable given that late 2025 and early 2025 saw a surge in weddings after all those events cancelled due to lockdowns were allowed to take place. It was inevitable that there would be a decline after that.
What this has meant is a 45% drop in interest in wedding guest outfits, and a 42% drop in nude block heels. There's also been a 41% drop in green block heels, which could be as much about the colour green fading a little after it enjoyed the spotlight a few seasons ago.
Monsoon also said that in a further formalwear decline, black lace-up heels (-43%) and black long sleeved dresses (also -43%) make the top five items that are on their way down.
