A British woman has given birth to a healthy baby girl after having her sister's womb transplanted into her in a UK first, The Daily Mail reports.
Grace Davidson was born without a womb, and yet she became a mother. Her own sister, Amy, became a womb donor.
Two years ago, surgeons had subjected the two women to a complex organ transplant operation, which lasted a total of 17 hours.
After that, Grace and her husband, Angus, recently had a daughter. The birth was carried out by cesarean section, without complications, and under the supervision of a team of 20 doctors and nurses.
The parents named the girl Amy Isabel in honor of the donor aunt, Amy, and the surgeon Isabel Quiroga.
