We all know that pre-owned interest is seeing a strong upswing and now, a new Amazon survey has highlighted that more than half of British people say they’d welcome a pre-loved present this Christmas.

That’s according to a survey of 2,000 adults commissioned by Amazon Warehouse. It actually found that 58% would be happy to receive a pre-loved present this festive season.
Those consumers said that pre-loved, refurbished and open-box (that is, with packaging already opened) products not only save money in the cost-of-living crisis, but also help them act more sustainably by extending the life of products.
And 38% also said they plan to take sustainability into account when Christmas shopping this year.
“As a nation, we’re becoming more conscious consumers and it’s exciting to see how many people are open to shopping for nearly-new products,” said John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager, Amazon.
The respondents said they shop both online and offline for ‘nearly-new’ gifts, turning to retailers like Amazon and charity shops.
And beyond the festive season, 60% of UK adults surveyed say they’ve bought ‘nearly-new’ items for themselves. More than one in four (28%) shoppers estimate they’ve saved over £100 by shopping for refurbished, open-box or pre-loved items in the past five years, with 12% predicting they’ve saved more than £300, according to the research.
