In a neat play on words, digital department store Freemans is highlighting the UK’s ‘cost of wedding crisis’ to promote its newly launched ‘Wedding Shop’.

And as costs continue to spiral, it's offering brides-to-be a dress for under £60 alongside 800 options for ‘aisle style’ with a number of other bridal choices.
The new offer is part of its wider value initiative in conjunction with European brand Bon Prix, introduced in the spring. This includes bridesmaid dresses from just £45-£80 and groom and groomsmen’s suits from just £100.Freemans said it has also thought of the mother of the bride with over 100 options starting at £30.
But the highlight is its £58 'Frock', billed as the “UK’s best value bargain bridal buy… a huge 22 times cheaper than the cost of the average £1,350 wedding dress”, said Freemans. It's available in sizes six to 24.
It also notes the dress “is even cheaper than the average £135 to rent a wedding dress for the day", plus can be sustainable and "reused for future occasions”.
That particular dress forms part of the new 12-piece Bon Prix Bridal Collection that has been “curated to ensure budget-conscious brides can look stylish while saving money”.
The range also features an off-the-shoulder dress with a lace bodice and a fitted mermaid skirt for £70, plus a boho-inspired sleeveless dress with plunging bodice and lace at the waist, also priced £70.
The company has also said it's seen strong sales in the early days of the launch.
