Idris Elba, who took over a champagne and rosé label in 2025 with his own label called Porte Noire, has launched a new cognac, Porte Noire, in collaboration with Maison Ferrand, Robb Report informs.
Maison Ferrand is a French company that produces several different spirits, including Planteray rum (formerly called Planation rum), Ferrand Dry Curacao, Citadelle gin, and, of course, Ferrand cognac.
The aforesaid cognac house traces its roots back to the 17th century, when Elie Ferrand founded it in the Grande Champagne region of France.
Given that long history, and the fact that Maison Ferrand is much smaller than any of the big houses like Hennessy, Martell, or Courvoisier, it made sense for Elba to collaborate with Gabriel on a cognac.
This is the first time that Maison Ferrand has created a new cognac brand for an external business.
“As the owner and master blender of Maison Ferrand, I have always sought out great sources of inspiration to create unique cognacs, and meeting Idris was one of those moments,” Gabriel said in a statement.
“From the vineyard to the glass, the craftsmanship behind cognac is nothing short of exceptional,” Elba added. “With Porte Noire Cognac, we have created a drink that tells the story of the region, but also feels fresh and new, inviting both seasoned cognac lovers and newcomers to enjoy it.”
Porte Noire Cognac will initially launch in the UK, where it will retail for £79.99 (about $104).
And according to Just Drinks, this cognac is scheduled to launch in the US in early 2025.
