United Legwear & Apparel Co., LLC, the NY-based manufacturer and distributor of licensed apparel and accessories for brands such as Puma, Champion, and Skechers, has launched a private brand called Fun Socks.
Fun Socks will launch with 150 styles for men and women sold through a digital site. United Legwear and Apparel (United) is also opening two retail stores to sell the brand, one in Venice, CA on Abbot Kinney, and one in SoHo in NYC.
United President and CEO Isaac E. Ash shared in a statement, "Our aim is to take the best parts of retail – the excitement of discovery and fun of face-to-face interaction – and build our brand around the things that endure: emotion, goodness, and community."
Fun Socks' NY location is a 125-square-foot micro-space with floor to ceiling walls of socks. The LA store is a 600-square-foot space with a mural statement wall that will change out seasonally, embracing the local Venice art community.
The LA store is meant to convey a "Fun House" theme and includes a car prop, designed to create perfect Instagram moments to share on the social channel.
Fun Socks will be distributed in the bicoastal direct-to-consumer stores as well as through 90 department stores and specialty retailers including Nordstrom and DNA Footwear. Socks range in price from $10 to $12.
Fun Socks' NY shop is located at 436 W Broadway. The LA shop is located at 1420 Abbott Kinney Blvd in Venice. Both stores open May 10th.
