In the wake of Burberry, Tom Ford and several other fashion labels, Gucci too, the Kering group's leading brand, has announced a revolution in its calendar.

On the occasion of the conference on luxury held last Tuesday in Versailles, Paris, by the New York Times International, Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri stated that, from 2025, the Italian label is planning to present its menswear and womenswear collections in one single show for each season.

The decision seems to follow the transgender drift initiated since last year by Gucci's Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, who is already blending feminine and masculine looks in his shows. But there is more to it. The choice is also part and parcel of the debate on the fashion calendar redesign, dictated by new commercial demands.

According to Gucci's top boss, as quoted in the UK media, this is a natural evolution, which ought "to simplify several aspects of the business." "Maintaining two separate, distinct shows is a by-product of tradition rather than a practical choice," he emphasised.

The combined show will he held at Gucci's new Milan headquarters in Via Mecenate. It is still to be decided whether the show will be scheduled during the men's or the women's fashion week.

Marco Bizzarri stated that Gucci will be working closely with the Italian National Fashion Chamber (CNMI) on this matter.
