Jil Sander has unveiled its largest flagship store to date in Tokyo’s Ginza district.

Spanning over 600 square meters across two floors, the store embodies creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier’s commitment to durable environments, using natural and re-used materials.
Notably, the space is characterized by monochrome blocks of marble, brass architectural elements and timber pieces. Walls and staircases are clad in silver-blue travertine and floors are carved from stone. Meanwhile, recycled plastic from compact disc cases has been repurposed into distinctive furniture elements.
Lighting also plays a central role in creating an intimate atmosphere, with soft natural light reminiscent of an artist’s studio.
For the first time, Jil Sander has incorporated a dedicated exhibition space into the store. The inaugural installation includes the artwork of British sculpturer Rachel Whiteread, Bergamo II.
The store opens with an exclusive capsule of silver products - an homage to Ginza, with “Gin” meaning silver in Japanese. It features a selection of signature items such as The 7 Days Shirt and The Cannolo Bag, created with silver accents and materials.
The new Ginza store will also house the brand’s new range of fine jewelry, crafted in precious metals including white gold, yellow gold and diamonds.
This is the second store designed in collaboration with the architectural firm Casper Mueller Kneer, following the debut of Jil Sander’s flagship in London’s Bond Street.
