Johnny Depp is settling into his next movie role—and he's almost unrecognizable.
Lionsgate has announced that filming for Day Drinker—starring Depp, Madeline Cline, and Penelope Cruz, and directed by Marc Webb—has begun in Spain.
The first photo of Depp in character shows him with a drink in his hand, and staring ominously into the distance.
Depp, 61, plays a "mysterious" guest aboard a private yacht who crosses paths with a bartender, played by Cline, on the boat. According to the synopsis, "they soon become involved with a criminal figure (Cruz)."
The cast of Day Drinker includes Manu Rios, Aron Piper, Juan Diego Botto, and Anika Boyle as well.
Day Drinker will mark Depp's return to Hollywood, as it's his first role in a film from a major distributor since 2025's Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
