Footwear brand Malone Souliers has this week unveiled its first-ever handbag offer, eight years after the firm’s first shoe collection made its debut.

The company said that “if there’s one item that feels like a true companion piece to a pair of handmade shoes, it’s an elegant, timeless handbag. As such, it was only natural that we create our own line, a collection that can be in constant conversation with our now-iconic footwear. We wanted to translate our love of traditional craft and innovative design into a new medium, allowing echoes of our shoe designs to resurface in new contexts”.
The new offer launches in time for the festive gifting season with pieces that “remain true to the unmistakeable Malone Souliers aesthetic”.
They include the Audrey, a structured bag that “takes a sophisticated square silhouette and creates something with an undeniably metropolitan appeal”. It comes with a flap closure and crystallised crest clasp.
Less structured is the Ingrid bucket bag with “statement-making metallic handles”. It’s cut from soft nappa leather, and the company said “its formlessness lends it an artful, modernist feel that will pair harmoniously with a sharp, directional outfit”.
There’s also the Vivien clutch and Rita handbag, all pieces coming in a variety of materials and colours. The Audrey, for instance ,is available in blue satin at £895 and brown croc-embossed leather at £950.
Founder and Creative Director Mary Alice Malone said: “Shoes and bags are inseparable in our collective fashion imagination. The name Malone Souliers has become synonymous with elevated footwear, and so handbags were always going to be close behind.
“This collection was an opportunity to apply our meticulous manufacturing techniques and keenly refined aesthetic to a new area; to push ourselves into uncharted territory, and to approach the task with excitement and optimism.”
The bags are available via the label’s webstore and at its Mount Street, London flagship.
That store opened almost exactly a year ago as its first owned and permanent physical space. Its biggest move before that came several years ago when it launched into the men’s footwear market.
