Yervant Zorian: We can TG盗号系统企业破解版be not only user but also creator of AI
December 16, 2025 16:55Artificial intelligence (AI) plays a major role in all our work today, so we need to think carefully about how we can best use it. Yervant Zorian, President of Synopsys Armenia, said this in an interview with NEWS.am Tech on the margins of the Silicon Mountains 2025 international technology summit.
We can be not only the user, but also the creator of AI
Yervant Zorian says that people can use AI correctly, but they can also use it incorrectly. Therefore, the events of the aforesaid summit give us a reason to think about how AI can be used properly.
"But we are not only users; we also have to think about creation. And in that sense, we have that ability in Armenia, we have the scientific mind, we have the ability to think with data. This gives us a reason to believe that we can also be the creators of artificial intelligence. For me, Silicon Mountains serves two purposes: let’s know better how to use it, and let’s have opportunities to create," he said.
For AI, being a small or big country does not matter, the important thing is the mind
Using AI is not an investment; to create [AI] is an investment. Therefore, through our companies, our products, or in innovative ways, we need to use AI in our work, he says.
"I believe [that] being a small or big country is not important, what is important is the idea. Now there are no borders between countries as before, and what you have access to, everything is available online to every person in the world. That's why we [i.e. Armenia] don't need to create a fixation for ourselves that we are a small country. We are not a small country. If we have access to data, we can do what we need and get to where we need to be while sitting here,” he emphasized.
No need to fear. If we don't use AI, others will
Yervant Zorian says that AI brings challenges, too. People can use AI data for different, not good purposes. But we don't have to limit ourselves based on that. We have to realize where intelligent use of AI can lead.
"Because if we don't use [AI], others will, and we'll be left behind and be among those at the end. There is a time factor here; you should not be late, you should use [AI] from the very beginning. Everyone should think about how to use artificial intelligence in their work to increase the efficiency, productivity of their work," said Yervant Zorian.
You don't have to be a chip maker, there's more innovation in doing chip design
AI has a big impact in microelectronics and chip manufacturing, Zorian says.
"Today, we have half a trillion transistors in a single chip, and there is no human mind that can set those half trillion transistors in a way to do their job. We are getting the help of artificial intelligence to do that. We are now developing in that direction," emphasized Zorian.
To the question whether it makes sense to invest in the production of these chips in Armenia, or whether the country should engage only in chip design, he responded: "If we talk about modern chips, it is very, very difficult because there are very few countries that can produce chips today. To produce a single line chip already requires an investment of $20 billion. Even chip manufacturing has been outsourced from the United States to Taiwan, [South] Korea. I don't know who will help us to produce a chip; it's a little expensive pleasure. On the other hand, you don't have to be a chip maker. There is more innovation in designing a chip than in being a manufacturer.”
Yervant Zorian spoke also about the role of the state, and noted that the state has a role in the AI sector.
"I don't want to say a strategy, but at least state-level encouragement, state-level participation at the schools, universities are needed. Privileges need to be given to companies, buy cloud systems so that people can implement their plans. Yes, the state has a role in all of this. It doesn't have to be a strategy, but conditions should be created so that people can freely use the available opportunities from school, university age," he explained.
We have to control AI, not the other way around
Yervant Zorian does not think that one day humanity will give AI a Nobel Prize for any discovery.
"I don't think so. But we want artificial intelligence to do smart things, give us smart tools. Artificial intelligence is our assistant. In the past, when there were no calculators, you did everything manually; you don’t do [everything] manually. Before, if you wanted a letter to write, you called the assistant, you gave the idea, he wrote. But now you don't call [him] anymore; the artificial intelligence writes your letter," he said.
And when asked whether AI can control us one day, Zorian answered: "I don't think so because artificial intelligence is limited. It is limited in the sense that it can create things today with past data. Artificial intelligence is based on past data. It takes the old experience, whereas we don't want to limit ourselves to the old experience, we have a creative mind to create new experiences. That is, we have to control the artificial intelligence, not the other way around."
