We hear a lot about struggling brands being acquired and closing all their stores, but rarely hear about them opening a raft of shops very soon after.

Yet the new owner of M&Co is planning to do just that. It will “re-open a number of stores across the UK this year, with final stages of negotiation well under way”.
The plan is for up to 50 stores across the country and that’s perhaps unsurprising given that while owner AK Retail Holdings has a big online presence, the owner of Yours Clothing, Long Tall Sally, BadRhino and Pixie Girl also operates plenty of stores.
So, what happens now? The company is relaunching M&Co online and will open “the ballpark of 50 stores” over the next two years.
CEO and owner Andrew Killingsworth said it’s exciting to have the opportunity to restore the M&Co brand” and that it “has an incredible heritage and a loyal customer following, and our goal is to honour that legacy by providing an unparalleled shopping experience while preserving the brand's identity”.
He also promised “updates in coming weeks” as the company enters those final stages of negotiations for some of the planned stores. Consumers can also sign on for updates relating to the online relaunch that’s happening on 21 June.
