On Saturday 4 November two fashion-based exhibitions, focused on Hague design open at Gemeentemuseum The Hague. Frans Hoogendoorn: a Hague couturier takes a closer look at the work of Frans Hoogendoorn. Hague Chic Steltman: 100 years of jewelry and silverwareportrays the work of jewelry house, Steltman Jewelry.

Frans Hoogendoorn has been a household name in the Netherlands for more than 40 years. He started his business in 1974 and built an international client base, which also includes members of the Dutch royal family. The exhibition at the Gemeentemuseum is a tribute to the couturier and consists of sketches, drawings, film footage and unique pieces from previous collections, including items of private collections.
The Steltman exposition showcases jewellery made by the jewelry house from 1917 onward, including pieces with a royal past. Steltman has contributed to the jewellery collection of the Dutch royal house for six generations.
In addition to the royal pieces, the exhibition features silver table utensils and decorative interior items. Another highlight is a tea set, which Steltman entered for the renowned 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts décoratifs et industriels modernesin Paris, where it was awarded a bronze medal.
The Hoogendoorn and Steltman exhibitions are designed by stylist Maarten Spruyt.
Gemeentemuseum Den Haag is a modern art museum housing more than 150,000 pieces of art. In addition to modern art, the museum focuses on prints, fashion and music.
