Womenswear brand Dai is to shutter its operations in December with the brand’s autumn/winter 2025 collection being its last.

Founder and designer Joanna Dai announced the end of her six-year-old womenswear brand in statements on its website and via her LinkedIn page.
She wrote: “The cost and challenges of upholding our vision for our people and planet became insurmountable. And to survive, yet alone achieve fast-paced commercial growth, it would have meant taking shortcuts which would have compromised our integrity.”
The brand’s demise comes despite a series of major successes. She added:"We kept hitting record sales, received countless major press coverage, dressed unbelievable women, and opened eight prominent store locations. We built a community of 65,000+ with our timeless designs, and as a result, we were able to meaningfully support [UK charity] Smart Works. We felt like we were making an impact. But it still wasn’t quite enough.”
A year ago, the brand raised £1.73 million in crowdfunding, with 60% of the backing coming from women. Last March, it opening its first UK store in London’s Covent Garden. Both the store and the website will remain open until early December.
