Any special outfit worn usually comes with its own memorable back story. And that’s the front story fashion rental company By Rotation has focused on for its latest campaign and collaboration.

It’s partnered with Tanqueray Gin to launch an exclusive rental edit that allows customers to borrow special outfits from some of the UK’s “top style icons… and share your own magnificent moments in their clothes”.
By Rotation also says the edit is able “to further nurture our community-focused approach to sustainable consumption”.
Every piece in the collection “has an empowering story behind it”, says By Rotation, and includes the white suit worn by musician and cabaret artist Self Esteem at her first Wembley performance; Cara Melle’s Goddess entrance look on Ru Paul Drag Race UK Season 5; and a pink Rejina Pyo outfit “one of the most rented dresses of all time” and belonging to By Rotation founder and CEO Eshita Kabra-Davies.
Each rental of the eight pieces available in the edit comes with a bottle of Tanqueray gin (or an alcohol-free version) and a cocktail recipe inspired by the outfit’s story.
Every piece also comes with a scannable label “that unlocks the extraordinary stories of the outfit’s journey so far”. Each new borrower will be able to rent the outfits by uploading the story of their own special evening — “adding to a magnificent, growing thread of memories held within the fabric of the clothes”.
The collection launches as research commissioned by Tanqueray shows “just how strong the memories of our outfits are when we reflect on significant moments in our lives”. It reveals that half of Britons remember what they were wearing and almost a third remember what they were drinking during significant occasions in their lives.
