Louis Vuitton is reimagining your sleep with two new versions of its iconic “trunk bed.” Womenswear artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière and menswear creative director Pharrell Williams have teamed up to give the world another reason to relax and splurge with these modern takes on the 19th-century original.
And you'll have to splurge a lot, too: Ghesquière's version costs a whopping $257,000, while Pharrell's is a little "cheaper" at $221,000.
The “trunk bed” was released in 1868, and its purpose is to provide travelers with comfort.
Pharrell Williams has given the Malle Lit a fresh look, introducing a classic Monogram canvas exterior and a clever aluminum and beech wood folding frame that easily transforms into a cozy sleeping space. The suitcase houses a four-section memory foam mattress. Its design features a distressed exterior with bold red and white stripes on the inside, while the fine jacquard mattress and pillow are embroidered with “LV Lovers.”
Nicolas Ghesquière’s take on the suitcase bed is equally captivating. His version combines engraved metal plates with a floral-patterned mattress, blending the softness of the visuals with the strength of the materials.
