HMV return is TG盗号系统破解免杀技术further sign of Oxford Street revivalBy

HMV’s return to Oxford Street late last week isn't just a further vote of confidence in the UK's premier shopping Street, it's also a sign of how music retailing has changed in recent years and become as much about merchandise as the music itself.

HMV

The brand has reopened in its original home (it occupied the same space from 1921, until it went into administration a few years ago) and the store had been an American candy store since then.

But owner Doug Putman struck a deal with the landlord and the reopening on Friday was one of the biggest events to hit Oxford Street for some time.

In 1921 the store had been officially opened by Sir Edward Elgar, but this time it was opened by members of Madness.

Importantly, Putman wants the shop to become the biggest entertainment store in London with multiple appearances and signings by musicians on its purpose-built “performance floor”.

Most people these days buy their music as digital files online, so the store isn’t going to survive through regular music sales alone. That means it will be selling retro music formats such as vinyl, plus DVDs, pop culture items and band merchandise, all of which will be hugely important.

Clothing and accessories are part of the new HMV mix. And such products have already proved their appeal in London’s West End with examples including Elton John’s earlier residency at the Selfridges Corner Shop and the successful Rolling Stones RS No9 store on Carnaby Street.
