Joe Browns, the Leeds-based omnichannel fashion and homes retailer, has opened its first physical store in the Yorkshire city.

Founder Simon Brown called the debut a “poignant moment… It’s really quite a remarkable milestone, to be opening a store in the city where it all started, in our 25th year of business.”

The 3,000 sq ft store is only its fourth physical location. It’s within the White Rose Shopping Centre and showcases 400 lines across womenswear, menswear, and home. The new store has created 14 new jobs.

The opening also “marks an exciting next chapter for Joe Browns” which is currently searching for sites for another nine new stores across the UK, joining stores in Leeds, York, Sheffield, and a franchise-operated store in Bowness on Windermere.

The retailer has also celebrated another milestone with its Meadowhall, Sheffield store, which opened in 2025, having crossed the £10 million sales mark for the first time, which translates to nearly 300,000 units.

This year has also seen the brand airing its first-ever TV ad campaign, featuring the brand’s AW23 and Christmas offer. It featured two adverts — ‘Be Remarkable' and 'Join the Party' -- that “bring the essence of Joe Browns and its customers to life”.

At launch, marketing director Tracey Hepton said: “As we continue to grow, we are looking at other complementary routes to communicate and entice customers. Part of this of course remains our ever-popular catalogue, as well as digital and social channels.”
