Liberty has teamed up with Klarna to offer the BNPL giant’s payment services to its online offer.

While much of the news flow around BNPL focuses on its impact on the lower-priced retail and brand sector, this latest link-up comes as more and more major names in the luxury sector are also adding interest-free instalment payment options.
Klarna said that its recent research showed that overall, 42% of shoppers would “prefer to use BNPL over a credit card (33%) to buy pricier items”.
Other high-end names already using it include Harrods, Farfetch and Rimowa.
And as well as widening the payments specialist’s reach, this also syncs with its messaging around responsible consumption, “encouraging consumers to consider the impact of their shopping habits on the environment as luxury products tend to be more durable, are made from higher-quality materials, and could even be passed down across generations or resold”.
In the UK, more than half (51%) of all luxury shoppers claim their high-end goods purchases are more sustainable and 46% feel their items save them money in the long run, Klarna said.
