The Japanese group Fast Retailing is reorganising its activities in France. The two companies Comptoir des Cotonniers and Princesse tam tam, which belong to the group but existed independently, have been merged into Fast Retailing France, which already oversees Uniqlo's activities in France. The merger took effect on September 1.

When contacted, the management of Fast Retailing in France explained that "the new organisation proposes a unified structure allowing better management of the brand portfolio. This project does not involve any staff cuts or outlet closures." Similarly, the brands will continue to exist "under separate trade names."

This legal merger comes at a time when Princesse tam tam and Comptoir des Cotonniers have completed their restructuring plan announced in May 2025. This involved the closure of 28 shops (out of 67) and 101 jobs (out of 272 employees) for the ready-to-wear brand Comptoir des Cotonniers, and 27 shops (out of 69) and 84 jobs (out of 235) for the lingerie brand Princesse tam tam.

At the same time, last spring the brands headed by Kunii San embarked on a policy of cutting prices by around 30%, with the aim of revitalising the business and attracting younger customers in the 25-35 age bracket.

Princesse tam tam and Comptoir des Cotonniers are also stepping up their involvement with Uniqlo, with dedicated in-store capsules and corners. Last year, the two brands also began testing a joint shop at the Forum des Halles in Paris.

According to société.com, Comptoir des Cotonniers generated sales of €63.4 million in 2025/23 (down 8.9% on the previous year). Princesse tam tam posted annual sales of €43.9 million, down 7.7% year-on-year.
