Chinese fast-fashion giant Shein announced on Thursday its expansion into new product categories, via collaborations with selected global brands and third-party sellers on its global marketplace.

In a bid to "fulfill customers' increasing demands for diversified products," Shein said it will retail product categories "that go beyond fashion and apparel," including home appliances such as portable washing machines, smart home products like remote controlled lighting, and home DIY products like bathroom and kitchen fixtures and wallpaper. The company did not disclose what brands are set to retail on its platform relating to the expansion.
The category expansion comes after the Chinese firm's recently launched global marketplace in Brazil and the U.S., allowing local third-party sellers to onboard to its marketplace. U.S. footwear giant Skechers, and Lansinoh, a mother-care products, have since been onboarded to Shein's marketplace.
Shein said it is collaborating with prominent global multi-label boutiques to bring an extensive collection of fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands to its marketplace.
