Bottega Veneta has opened its second international ‘maison’ at 320 North Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. The 450 m² 'maison'-style store extends on two floors and features handbags, small leather goods, clothing, shoes, fashion and precious jewellery, home and travel accessories, eyewear and fragrances.
The store's design concept breathes 'Mediterranean Revival', and the early XXth century South California architectural style inspired by Mexico's Spanish revival colonial architecture. Bottega Veneta's Creative Director Tomas Maier was influenced in this project by architects like George Washington Smith, Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue, with his Austin Val Verde masterpiece, and Lutah Maria Riggs' Romberg House.
"In the last decades, my appreciation of this architectural style has evolved, thanks to frequent visits to places like Santa Barbara, Montecito and Pasadena," explained Tomas Maier. "The design of the store's façade and interiors were influenced by the control and proportions of Spanish colonial minimalist architecture, with its absence of colour, the straightforward complexity of its arches and its choice of stone."
