Hot on the heels of New Look announcing it’s upsizing at Liverpool One, fashion footwear brand Dr Martens is also taking on a bigger retail space at the in-demand shopping centre.

Operator Grosvenor Britain & Ireland has announced the opening of a new 2,000 sq ft Dr Martens store on Paradise Street, with the fashion footwear brand relocating from Manesty’s Lane, moving next to Vans and opposite JD Sports’ global flagship.

The new store showcases Dr Martens’ full range of footwear for men, women, and children, as well as the brand’s accessories and collaborative ranges.

Its interior also features artwork by local artist Neil Keating, with whom the label recently partnered as part of its Liverpool iteration of 'Dr Martens Presents’, an initiative that provides grassroots support to local creatives.

The initiative continues Dr Martens’ long-standing ‘subculture' support, which has also helped Liverpool-based radio station Melodic Distractions to remain on air. And it said it continues to support the station by hosting its new studio launch party and taking over the airways from the Paradise Street store on 29 July.

Alison Clegg, managing director, Asset Management, Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, said: “Dr Martens’… performance has always been strong, so we have worked closely with the team to create a new, larger flagship”.

Kenny Wilson, CEO of Dr Martens, added: “Liverpool One is the life and soul of the city. It is somewhere we have to be and so our new home on Paradise Street is the perfect step. While we may have a different address, our move is a renewal of our commitment to Liverpool One and this great city.”

Apart from New Look’s relocation to South John Street, Grosvenor has also attracted Castore, the Andy Murray-backed sportswear brand, for a permanent store following its successful pop-up. Footwear giant Skechers also recently renewed the lease for its 3,578 sq ft regional flagship on lower South John Street.
