Burberry continues to work to drive sales via a refocus on its British heritage and as part of this, it has just unveiled Burberry Streets, “a series of takeovers that celebrate the art of discovery and exploration in cities worldwide”.

The company said “the takeovers merge the brand’s forward-thinking vision with its rich heritage, bringing modern British luxury to life in new and innovative ways”.

As might be expected, it kicks off in London, but underlining the importance of the Asian market, it bypasses the rest of Europe and the US and instead will land in Seoul and Shanghai in October.

The London activation comes with immersive experiences, installations and events across the city, “each showcasing the brand’s signatures, such as its seasonal check in knight blue, rose print, and the newly redefined Equestrian Knight Design”.

The timing is ideal given the imminent London Fashion Week and the various events connected to it that will focus on London as one of the world’s top fashion cities.

But the takeovers are clearly not solely focused on fashion. For instance, Burberry Streets begins with a takeover of Norman’s, the North London café “renowned for its British cuisine". The café will be decorated in signature blue check and play host to a special evening event on 13 September.

And during London Fashion Week, a traveling Norman’s food truck will be making appearances in key LFW-linked locations such as The Strand and Duke of York Square.

Elsewhere, “symbols of the house will be seen in multiple locations across the capital”. That means flags featuring the new rose print flying above Bond Street and Piccadilly’s screens set to be lit up with videos from the Winter 2025 campaign. The Equestrian Knight will also be seen as chalk stencils on paths and in parks – and London's black taxis will be wrapped in Daniel Lee’s English rose print.

It all coincides with the arrival of Lee’s first collection for the brand (Winter 2025), which has just debuted in-store and online, alongside a redesign of the webstore, “marking a new era and creative vision for Burberry”.
