Monsoon is continuing its turnaround with the launch on Tuesday of a new micro-site, called Monsoon Bazaar. It’s a “distinctive and carefully curated marketplace of beautiful and eclectic products from makers big and small”.

It’s a move that seems to make commercial sense given the particular profile of the retailer that lends itself very well to a curation of this kind.
The company said Monsoon Bazaar “brings together a carefully selected collection of design-led and sustainable brands, hand-picked by the Monsoon team”.
There are homewares, women’s and kidswear, fashion accessories, a selection of wellness products and gifts. As many as 40 brands are available at launch including Nkuku, East, Tallulah and Hope, One Hundred Stars, Little Green Radicals, Trotters, Maison M and Lab Tonica.
The move into wellness products is particularly interesting as it’s not an area with which Monsoon has previously been associated. But in a marketplace of this kind, it feels like a logical addition.
Branded webstores are increasingly becoming one-stop-shops for consumers, seeking to increase dwell time and drive sales higher both for their own labels and partner brands.
Naomi Robertson, Monsoon’s Director of Merchandising and Buying, explained: “The idea for Monsoon Bazaar came simply from a desire to share brands and products that we love with our audience. We travel far and wide when we create our collections, and we wanted a way of sharing some of the treasures that we encounter. The creators behind the brands share so much of what we aspire to: making beautiful and sustainable products, sourced ethically and responsibly. It has been a joy to put the initial collection together and we’re so excited to share it with our Monsoon community.”
