The house Versace, with Donatella playing the role of an avatar, will next week debut its new Trigreca sneaker on ComplexLand, the virtual street culture festival.
In a definite departure for Versace, the house will stage an exclusive sneaker drop on ComplexLand, a rare blend of immersive internet action featuring fashion, art, musical performances, screenings and cultural conversations.
The Milan-based fashion house plans to showcase a virtual storefront at the free virtual playground, scheduled to run from Monday, Dec. 7 to Friday, Dec.11.
“I am very excited about this project. It is my first time as a virtual identity, and I find it super modern and cool and absolutely in line with the brand aesthetic and current approach. It was a fun process to develop my virtual alter ego and I very much looking forward to interacting with the other virtual participants at ComplexLand!” said Donatella in a release. For her digital performance, Donatella will wear a classic Versace gold and black Barocco-print pantsuit.
ComplexLand is an unusual concept where visitors create their own avatar to shop daily exclusives; order deliverable delicacies from virtual food trucks; acquire product drops and watch screenings and performances. Though none of the brand it lists – Adidas, Atmos, Rhude or Carrots to name a few - have anywhere the oomph of Versace.
In her debut performance as an avatar the blond designer will help “personally” guide attendees through their online journey to discover and shop the new, exclusive Versace Trigreca sneaker.
The latest iteration of the Trigreca sneaker is a blend of urban zest; mountaineering rubber-dipped lace detailing and chunky soles featuring the house’s signature graphic Greca frieze - celebrating Versace’s Magna Graecia. Created in a limited series of 100 pairs, the new Trigreca is available exclusively through ComplexLand.
