Funding for the Armath school engineering labs has been increased by approximately 100 million drams, announced Araksia Svajyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, at the 24th Congress of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE).

"Today, we are undertaking extensive work to reform and enhance the level of education, with a significant part of these efforts aimed at improving STEM education," Svajyan stated.

The Deputy Minister highlighted the positive outcomes from implementing new programs in these areas and noted that the next strategic step was the establishment of STEM labs.

"I am pleased to announce that among these labs are engineering labs equipped to a high standard," Svajyan declared.

She also pointed out that the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (MoESCS) is implementing many programs to develop education in technology, with one of the largest being the Armath labs, developed in collaboration with UATE.

"Currently, there are Armath labs in 638 schools across the country, where around 16,000 students are studying various subjects, from robotics to drones. This is not specialized education but rather career guidance," she explained.

The Deputy Minister added that a recent study showed that a significant number of Armath students continue their education in these fields, indicating positive results.

"The data are very encouraging, confirming that we are moving in the right direction. The education programs at Armath expand each year thanks to our partners at UATE," Svajyan emphasized.

In turn, Sarkis Karapetyan, Executive Director of UATE, noted that Armath exemplifies successful public-private sector cooperation.

"Over the last 10 years, more than $24 million in investments have been attracted. Last year, Armath's funding reached 137 million drams, with an increase in state funding," he said.

As a result, the number of Armath labs increased by 17, and more than 50 labs opened back in 2025 have undergone technical upgrades. This year, plans include opening another 10-15 new labs, with the main focus on technically upgrading approximately 100 existing Armath labs.
