Manhattan Beach, California-based footwear group Skechers revealed on Wednesday that it has begun a new collaboration with The Goodyear Rubber & Tire Company to bring custom high-performance outsoles to select shoe styles.
Initially launched on three running shoes from Skechers’ GoRun collection, Goodyear Performance Outsoles are now being added to a wider range of the brand’s running and walking footwear. Throughout 2025, they will also be expanded into the athletic lifestyle, trail, and work footwear categories, featuring on styles for men, women and kids.
Designed to provide improved grip, stability and durability, the outsoles are manufactured from a special polymer made by Goodyear using sustainable soybean oil, a material also used in the company’s tires, such as the Assurance WeatherReady and the Eagle Exhilarate.
“Goodyear has always worked to create innovative products that provide consumers with high-performance tires, and now we’re using that same ingenuity to enable consumers to wear high-performance shoes,” commented Goodyear’s global director of licensed products Christian Jurado in a release.
“This collaboration is an example of two trusted brands coming together to create a high-tech product that will truly benefit our consumer,” added Skechers president Michael Greenberg. “Through this effort, select products will feature Goodyear Performance Outsoles, offering that extra edge where it’s needed most – be it enhanced stability on a run, excellent grip over slippery surfaces in the workplace, or durability on the playground for long-lasting wear.”
Skechers shoes featuring Goodyear Performance Outsoles are now available on the footwear brand’s e-commerce website, as well as in its brick-and-mortar stores and via select retail partners.
