With China opening up again this year post-Covid, the country is once again a key focus for luxury labels and Kenzo’s plan to stage a runway show there underlines that fact.
The label will show both women’s and men’s SS24 in Shanghai on 28 July and will “introduce dedicated new iterations of key Kenzo looks unveiled in Paris, acting as a symbolic yet natural ‘East Meets West’ bridge for the House”.
It's the first time the label has shown in Shanghai and the show will “echo” what Artistic Director Nigo created for its recent edition that was staged on the Passerelle Debilly, the footbridge that connects the Palais de Tokyo with the Eiffel Tower over the River Seine in Paris.
China is an important market for Kenzo and it already has 40 stores there, with the House saying its decision to preset the collection in the country is “reinforcing its strong commitment and growing presence in the Chinese market”.
Few other details are available of the event, although the company did say we should “stay tuned for details of the Shanghai after-show party that will complete the event” on the evening of 28 July.
