SMCP’s Fursac brand has joined the Howard de Walden estate on London’s Marylebone High Street, strengthening the neighbourhood’s dedicated menswear offering.

It’s the latest in a string of retail deals signed by the landlord, following Rixo and Anglo-Italian and reflects the strength that can be seen in niche shopping areas while many giant malls and shopping streets struggle.

Fursac is this autumn opening a 2,090 sq ft site at 12 Marylebone High Street to feature the brands complete range, from formal tailoring to urban casual.

The street, known for its line-up of premium brands, is an important shopping neighbourhood just a stone’s throw away from the main West End shopping streets. It’s popular with domestic tourists, as well as the office workers and international tourists who are usually a strong presence in the area, even though they may be largely absent in the ongoing pandemic period.

The almost-50-year-old brand’s arrival is part of Howard De Walden’s overall strategy to strengthen its standalone menswear offer, which currently includes Luca Faloni and Slowear.

Elina Kousourna, executive director at Fursac, said the company is “convinced of the appeal and potential of French clothing proposed by Fursac in the English market. This second opening represents our desire of international expansion, which should see others in the coming months.”
