Legendary fashion designer Thierry Mugler is set to get his first retrospective next month.

The French couturier's work is set to go on show at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Clarins Group and the Maison Mugler. It will later come to Europe, to be shown in the Kunsthal Rotterdam art museum in the fall.
Titled, "Thierry Mugler: Couturissime", the exhibition will delve into Mugler's body of work, to showcase more than 140 pieces dating from between 1973 and 2001, as well as never-before seen accessories and stage costumes. The exhibit will also include media such as archival clips and videos and sketches, in addition to 100 works by contemporary fashion photographers such as Richard Avedon, Guy Bourdin, David LaChapelle and Helmut Newton.
"We are very proud to be able to present yet another fashion icon to the Dutch public this autumn," said Emily Ansenk, Director at Kunsthal, in a statement. The Kunsthal has established a strong tradition in programming world renowned fashion exhibitions in the Netherlands -- from Jean Paul Gaultier and Peter Lindbergh to Viktor & Rolf -- and we consider it a great honour to be the first venue in Europe to show this special retrospective of Thierry Mugler."
Known for his wide-ranging creative vision, Mugler used his eponymous label to carve out a reputation as an audacious, futuristic and glamorous designer, with a penchant for sculptural cuts and seductive touches. The exhibition promises to explore the creative's "perfectionism, Hollywood-style prestige, dreams, exotic creatures, eroticism, and science fiction."
"Thierry Mugler: Couturissime" will run from March 2 through September 8 at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
