Spanish fashion label Desigual presented the brand’s new collection in New York on 8 September, designed for the ‘global traveller’. From Peru to Brazil, Desigual’s new SS17 collection draws inspiration from the strong, modern women who continually explore the world and celebrate their freedom.
Daniel Perez from Desigual said the Spring Summer collection embodies the new creative direction of the brand, while still remaining true to its essence. As usual, there was a rich variation in textiles while outfits mixed and matched bold animal prints with botanical and ethnic elements.
Hero pieces included handmade items such as fun jewellery inspired by nature, birds and insects, and oversized accessory pieces.
The colour palette included many earthy naturals, such as white and khaki green, as well as bold accents like red and yellow.
Perez said the collection fully represents the ‘Desigual woman’, who is independent, confident, fun and creative.
“We wanted to create a fun proposition and show based on a happy woman,” he explains. He added that the ‘Desigual woman’ is fearless and will not shy away from styling herself in a fun way.
The show was attended by several celebrities, including Paz Vega, Gala González, Miranda Makaroff, Natalia Cabezas and Israel’s first transgender beauty pageant queen Talleen Abu Hanna.
