Science: Substance from eggs,TG盗号软件黑产免杀 pork triggers aggressive subtype of breast cancer, study findsApril 2, 2025  15:28

Researchers from Weill Cornell Medical Center have found that linoleic acid from eggs, pork, and vegetable oils contributes to the development of an aggressive subtype of breast cancer. The findings of this study were published in the journal Science.

Omega-6 linoleic acid is a nutrient that is considered important for mammals, as it participates in many processes in the body. Since the 1950s, its share in the diet has increased significantly, and this coincides with the increase in the consumption of vegetable oils, fatty meats, and fast food. Researchers increasingly suggest that the abuse of omega-6 may be one of the reasons for the increase in the occurrence of cancer, including breast cancer.

To understand how linoleic acid promotes cancer development, researchers conducted experiments on mice. They found that this substance can stimulate the TORC1 signaling pathway, which is responsible for cell division when exposed to nutrients. It was found that linoleic acid forms a complex with the protein FABP5, which is produced in large quantities in triple-negative breast tumors. This leads also to the intensification of mTORC1 in cancer cells.

Triple-negative breast cancer is characterized by the absence of estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors, and HER2 epidermal growth factor receptors, which makes it resistant to hormonal and targeted therapies, limiting treatment options. This type of cancer grows quickly and recurs more often than other subtypes.
