UK childrenswear brand Frugi is planning to open a fulfillment site in Utrecht, the Netherlands, to handle European orders following the UK’s departure from the European Union.
The DHL centre will serve the company’s growing community of European online shoppers. It will also handle all European-based wholesale orders.
Owned by private equity firm True, Frugi will continue to fulfil all non-EU orders, including UK ones, out of its warehouse in Helston, Cornwall, reported Business Live.
“We have been super busy shipping stock to the Netherlands and putting everything in place for this new Frugi adventure. We are working closely with our friends at DHL so that they can receive and book in the stocks into early next week,” said new chief executive Hugo Adams.
In line with the company’s eco-friendly approach (it uses sustainably-sourced organic cotton for its clothing), the warehouse boasts strong environmental credentials.
The brand said the facility uses solar power, incorporates a recycled rainwater technology, and has earned a BREEAM distinction, the world’s leading sustainability certificate.
The expanded distribution will pave the way for further growth at the brand after reporting a 50% increase in like-for-like sales over the Christmas trading period. Frugi is also expecting the recent acquisition of TotsBots, a reusable nappy brand, to result in higher sales.
